Youth Leadership

Columbiana County Youth Coalition is an initiative of the Family Recovery Center Education Department for youth in the county to implement programs in their schools and community organizations to reduce substance use among the teen population.

Teams of students plan activities for their schools and communities to provide knowledge and awareness of the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Youth Coalition members have the opportunity to attend a 2 1/2 day Leadership Training. It is an educational experience for youth who display leadership qualities. Youth discuss issues pertinent to their home schools and compare trends they are seeing. Participants attend workshops on leadership skills building, substance use/abuse awareness, peer pressure skills and campaign development.

Meetings are held monthly for individual school teams and the Youth Coalition meets quarterly to keep abreast of the latest news and information.
